Who sells green slips in NSW?

insurers sell green slips

Did you know only six insurers are licensed to sell greenslips in NSW? These are AAMI, Allianz, GIO, QBE, NRMA Insurance and Youi. Even when brokers or agents sell green slips, it’s always from one of these insurers. Use the greenslips.com.au Calculator to compare green slip prices from every insurer.

Six licensed green slip insurers

A green slip covers you for anyone who is injured or dies when your vehicle is involved in a road accident. Only six licensed insurers offer this type of coverage in NSW. Five large insurance groups own these greenslip insurers and their other brand names:

Insurer AAMI Allianz GIO NRMA Insurance QBE Youi
Parent Suncorp Allianz Suncorp IAG QBE RMI
Other brands     Apia
Shannons

Australia Post

Kogan

Even when brokers or agents sell other brands, such as Apia or Kogan, they are still selling green slips from one of the six insurers. You can’t buy a green slip from any other insurer in NSW except these.

How do I choose a green slip insurer?

The best way to choose a green slip insurer is to use the greenslips.com.au Calculator to compare prices. It shows you the cheapest available price from all six insurers, for your vehicle and details.

Other ways to choose a green slip insurer are to compare at-fault driver cover, any available discounts and ease of purchase.

Finally, you may choose an insurer based on how well it would manage a greenslip claim. The SIRA quarterly report shows, for example, how long you will wait for income support and treatment and care, how soon you could get back to work, and what happens if you disagree with the insurer.
